Comprehensive Tax Reform

South Carolina has the highest industrial property tax in the nation. The Chamber supports a tax strategy designed for long-term prosperity for businesses and citizens.

Economic Development

CNBC released a comprehensive assessment of state business climates. South Carolina ranks 37th. Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida all rank in the top five. Together we can boost economic development by supporting and creating a competitive business environment.

Environment & Energy

South Carolina ranks 6th nationally in leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-certified commercial and institutional green building space. The Chamber advocates sustainable, balanced solutions that are good for business and the environment.

Government Restructuring

$17 Billion - the unfunded liability of the South Carolina retirement system. A more efficient & fiscally responsible government is simply good business.

Infrastructure

With a growing population & economy, South Carolina spends just $15,000 per mile to maintain roads. Georgia spends $35,000. North Carolina spends $150,000. Together we'll build the road to South Carolina's success.

Workforce Development

South Carolina has experienced a 22% decrease in High School dropout rates thanks to programs like the Education & Economic Development Act. Investing in an educated workforce drives business and jobs.
