2021 SC Legislative Wrap Up

SC Legislative Wrap Up

Friday, May 14th, 2021

This week concluded the 2021 regular legislative session. The SC Chamber and our partners (local chambers and fellow pro-business associations) saw many notable victories this year. These include:

Tax Issues:

  • Tax Conformity H.4017 (SUPPORT): Passed and enrolled for ratification. The Governor is expected to sign the bill into law.

Education and Workforce Development Issues:

Adapting to a New Way of Doing Business Issues:

Other Issues:

Thank you to our partners as well as the Governor, legislative leaders, and legislators on both sides of the aisle who supported us in working on these business-critical issues. This year’s progress would not be possible without their support.

The House and Senate are expected to be back in Columbia for session intermittently over the summer. The House budget schedule is as follows:

  • May 24-28: Budget subcommittee meetings
  • June 1-3: Full House Ways and Means Committee hearings
  • June 8-10: House Floor Budget Deliberations, Part II
  • June 14-18: Conference Committee
  • June 21-23: Conference Report Adoption
