Blueprint 2035: A Roadmap for South Carolina’s Economic Future
As part of a growing effort to ensure the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce is focused on our vision to make South Carolina’s economy the most vibrant in the United States, creating opportunity and prosperity for all, we are developing Blueprint 2035 – A Roadmap for South Carolina’s Economic Future.
South Carolina is at a pivotal moment in its economic history. As the state's business community thrives and we continue to lead the country in population growth, the future of South Carolina depends on strategic, thoughtful planning that will sustain growth, attract investment, and ensure prosperity for generations to come.
The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce is committed to driving the state’s success by championing policies that support business growth, innovation, and a strong workforce. Our vision for the future includes creating a comprehensive actionable plan to secure South Carolina’s position as a leading economic force in the Southeast and beyond.
This comprehensive economic growth plan will encompass global and national data and trends, a dashboard to evaluate where South Carolina stacks up against other states regionally and nationally, and gather input from business leaders and key stakeholders in economic development, education, workforce, manufacturing, healthcare, life sciences, transportation, construction, innovation, and other industries to ensure that Blueprint S.C. 2035 reflects the voices of the state’s business community and secures economic success for all South Carolinians.

The Need for a Comprehensive Economic Blueprint
South Carolina's economy has made great strides in recent years, but to maintain and accelerate this progress, we must address key areas that will enhance our competitive edge and ensure long-term prosperity:
- Economic Competitiveness: To be a leader in the Southeast, and nation, the Blueprint will establish a baseline of key indicators that will be tracked annually to track the progress towards the goals.
- Business Growth & Diversification: South Carolina must identify key industries ripe for expansion and attract new sectors to diversify its economy and increase resilience.
- Infrastructure Development: To support business growth and an expanding population, the state must enhance critical infrastructure—transportation, broadband, and energy—so that companies can operate efficiently and grow sustainably.
- Workforce Development: As industries evolve, so must our workforce. South Carolina needs expanded access to education and job training that align with the demands of emerging industries.
- Innovation & Technology: As global technology trends accelerate, South Carolina must foster tech hubs and innovation centers to stay competitive in a digital age.
- Tax Policy: South Carolina’s tax structure must be competitive with other states to grow business and attract investment.
The Blueprint 2035 will integrate these key focus areas into a comprehensive plan that addresses our state's current challenges and future opportunities.
As a result of this plan, the chamber will have a vision and a Roadmap for South Carolina’s Economic Future complete with strategies to develop effective policy solutions to our biggest challenges, opportunities to invest in industry growth and attract additional economic investments in South Carolina, as well as identifying our attributes and successes to accelerate practices that will bring about more prosperity.
Blueprints have become a “best practice” for State Chambers, and now is the time for South Carolina to step up and stand out as the BEST place to do business!
