COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Chamber released the below statement following the passage by the SC House Tax Policy Review Committee of a proposal to reform personal income tax in South Carolina:
“The business community is encouraged by the House’s efforts to look at South Carolina’s tax code and lower our top personal income tax rate of 7%, which is the highest in the Southeast” said South Carolina Chamber President & CEO Ted Pitts. “The business community wants to work with policy makers to reform South Carolina’s tax code, making it more competitive for workers and job creators.”
Tax reform is one of the South Carolina Chamber’s top priorities on its 2018 Competitiveness Agenda.
