Funeral services for several victims announced

The funeral services and arrangements have been confirmed for several of the nine victims who were killed by a gunman at Emanuel AME Church on June 17.

The service for the Rev. Sharonda Singleton will be Thursday at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 7396 Rivers Ave., North Charleston. The viewing will from 10 a.m. until the funeral service, which begins at 2 p.m. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Murray’s Mortuary of North Charleston.

There will be a viewing for Ethel Lance on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Royal Missionary Baptist Church, 4761 Luella Ave., North Charleston. The family will receive friends, beginning at 7 p.m. Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Royal Missionary. She will be buried at Emanuel AME Church cemetery, 110 Calhoun St., Charleston. Arrangements are being handled by The Palmetto Mortuary of Charleston.

The Rev. Clementa Pinckney’s funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the College of Charleston’s TD Arena, 301 Meeting St., Charleston. President Barack Obama will deliver the eulogy.

Pinckney also will lie in state on Wednesday from 1 to 5 p.m. in The Rotunda of the Statehouse in Columbia. He then will have a viewing on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. John AME Church, 2640 Tillman Road, Ridgeland. Arrangements are being handled by Leevy’s Funeral Home’s Taylor Street Chapel in Columbia.

The arrangements for Cynthia Hurd are being handled by Fielding Home for Funerals of Charleston. The funeral director said the viewing is tentatively set for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Emanuel AME. He said the funeral service tentatively is set for 11 a.m. Saturday.

The visitation for Myra Thompson will be held Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Emanuel AME, with the family receiving friends at 6 p.m., according to The Palmetto Mortuary’s website. The website also states that the funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Emanuel AME.

The Palmetto Mortuary’s website also states that the visitation for DePayne Middleton Doctor will be held at St. Mark AME Church, 5672 Salters Hill Road, Ravenel, on Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. It says her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Emanuel AME and that burial will be at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston. \

The arrangements for Daniel Simmons are being handled by Leevy’s Taylor Street Chapel of Columbia. Funeral dates and times are incomplete.

Arrangements for Susie Jackson and Tywanza Sanders are both being handled by Murray’s Mortuary of North Charleston. Funeral dates and times are incomplete.
