S.C. Chamber Encourages House Members To Pass WRDA

COLUMBIA, S.C. – An important vote is coming today in the U.S. House of Representatives that will not only strengthen our nation’s infrastructure but will also move the 52-foot Charleston Harbor Deepening Project one step closer to construction. The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce released the following statement urging the South Carolina Congressional delegation to support the passage of the Water Resources Development Act.
Chamber President Ted Pitts said, “Let’s be clear, the vote the U.S. House is taking today on WRDA is a jobs vote for the Palmetto State. The Charleston Port is a critical economic engine for our state and region. Our state’s leaders having been working hard to accelerate this project, and this vote is an important next step. The Port is vital to South Carolina’s economy and provides for $53 billion in annual economic activity that touches every South Carolinian.”
