South Carolina Business Week Commences July 13
July 10, 2014
Clinton, SC – The annual South Carolina Business Week will commence July 13-18 on the campus of Presbyterian College in Clinton. For the past 30 years, the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce’s Business Week program has contributed to the preparation of young adults for the business environment by introducing them to the principles of leadership, teamwork and the American free enterprise system while promoting self-reliance, individual responsibility and entrepreneurship.
During the week, teams of top level high school students develop mock companies, led by company advisors loaned from some of South Carolina’s most successful entities like Michelin, SCANA, Colonial Life, Sun Printing, Midlands Technical College and United Way. When the students are not working on their business simulations in company teams, they are touring innovative manufacturing facilities, auditioning for a diverse talent show, sculpting new business ideas with “junk,” learning about life on a college campus, making new friends and preparing for the end-of-the-week graduation ceremony.
Business Week is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the high school students who attend to learn together on a college campus at no cost to them or their families.
The media is invited to join us at PC for Business Week on Thursday, June 17, 2014. Guided tours and photo/ interview opportunities are available upon request. Contact Julie Scott at 803-606-2570.
There’s still room for company involvement too! This program operates thanks to the kind investment of dollars, time and talent from businesses across South Carolina.
