COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce (SC Chamber) is pleased to announce Governor Henry McMaster as the 2024 recipient of the organization’s annual Public Servant of the Year Award, in recognition of his unwavering support for the state’s business community and steadfast leadership that has resulted in South Carolina enjoying one of the most vibrant economies in the nation.

“I can think of no individual more deserving of this award than Governor Henry McMaster,” said SC Chamber President and CEO Mike Brenan. “2024 was another year of what we’ve come to expect from Governor McMaster – principled leadership, dedicated service, and unprecedented economic growth. He has consistently championed free enterprise and economic development, tirelessly supported innovative education initiatives, and boldly invested in successful workforce development efforts. Most importantly, he has demonstrated how success can be achieved when leaders coordinate, collaborate, and communicate. We are proud to recognize him as our 2024 Public Servant of the Year and cannot wait to celebrate him at the 45th Annual Summit.”

“I am honored to be recognized by the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce as the 2024 Public Servant of the Year. Our state's economic success is driven by our skilled workforce, pro-business policies, and strong partnerships with our business community,” said Governor Henry McMaster. “Together, we will continue to build on this momentum, creating new opportunities for both our people and businesses, ensuring South Carolina's economy remains one of the strongest in the country.”

Following the two most successful years in state history for industry recruitment, Governor McMaster has announced nearly 4,000 new jobs and $2.5 billion in capital investment so far this year. According to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, South Carolina led the nation in personal income growth through the first quarter of 2024 at 9.5%. Additionally, for 2024, Area Development has named South Carolina the #2 state for doing business.

The SC Chamber’s annual Public Servant of the Year award recognizes an individual who has served, or currently serves, as a key official in state government and has contributed to the overall well-being and health of the state. Governor McMaster will be recognized during the SC Chamber’s 45th Annual Summit, presented by Ogletree Deakins, October 28th-30th at the Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms, South Carolina.
